If you’ve got a growing family and an adventurous lifestyle, the all-new 2020 Ford Explorer is the ideal vehicle for you. With more interior space for passengers and cargo, four engine options, increased towing capacity, and available intelligent all-wheel drive, the Explorer will take you wherever you want to go. Here are five of the features that make it a great choice for your family.

Exterior Styling

The 2020 Ford Explorer may be a versatile family hauler, but it also has striking good looks that will turn heads wherever your adventures take you. It’s offered in XLT, Limited, the high-performance ST, and luxurious Platinum trim levels.

It features a bold new grille, LED headlights and signature lighting, heated power mirrors with LED turn signals, alloy wheels, LED taillights, and a power liftgate. Limited trim and up add LED fog lights, power-folding mirrors with approach lights and memory, and the added convenience of a hands-free liftgate.

Interior Design

Whether you’re picking up the family’s groceries or heading out on a road trip, the Explorer has the capacity to carry what you need. With a full load of up to seven passengers, you have 18.2 cubic feet of storage. Folding the 50/50 split third row gives you 47.9 cubic feet and, for those trips without the kids, the second and third rows fold flat to give you 87.8 cubic feet of cargo space. Extra pockets and underfloor storage provide space for smaller items.

Second-row power-folding captain’s chairs are standard and the XLT and Platinum trims offer the option of a 40/20/40 split-folding bench for increased passenger capacity. Limited trim and up have leather upholstery, heated second-row seats, a power-fold third row, and ambient lighting.

Entertainment

To keep the family entertained, connected, and fully charged on the go, the Explorer has three 12-volt power outlets, dual smart-charging USB ports, a 4G Wi-Fi hot spot, smartphone integration, MP3 compatible six-speaker audio with satellite radio, and an 8-inch touch screen or the available 10.1-inch screen. Limited trim adds a voice-activated navigation system and 12-speaker B&O audio.

Power and Performance

You don’t need to sacrifice driving pleasure with four powerful engines to choose from. XLT and Limited trim are powered by a 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine delivering 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque to the rear or all four wheels via the smooth-shifting 10-speed automatic transmission.

Optional for the Limited is a hybrid powertrain with a 3.3-liter V-6 linked to electric motors to give a combined output of 318 horsepower. Under the hood of the Platinum trim is a 3.0-liter turbocharged V-6 that produces 365 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. For the ST, the same engine is boosted to give you 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque.

Safety Features

Standard safety features include a lane-keeping system, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, reverse parking sensors, pre-collision alert with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, stability control, traction control, and an SOS post-crash alert system.
