Taking a Close Look at the 2021 Ford Transit Connect Van

Ford has perfected the practical utility van with its Transit Connect – a compact commercial cargo van that can be configured for transporting people or stuff. Despite the spacious interior layout, the 2021 Ford Transit Connect is nimble enough to maneuver through city streets and squeeze into tight parking spaces. Keep reading to find out more about this unique vehicle.

A Work Van with Many Options

With several trim choices and packages to choose from, the Transit Connect can easily be set up for its exact intended purposes. The configuration can be tailored to passengers or materials, with the option of taking the back rows right out if needed.

While the typical buyer is using this van to move work materials, often choosing to leave the back hollowed out for easy loading, this van is also suitable for large families. Perhaps your kids play sports and have tons of gear to transport – no problem! With the seats left in, this van can hold up to seven people, with plenty of room to spare for cargo if you fold down the third row.

Pricing on the 2021 Ford Transit Connect

There are three trim levels to choose from: The XL ($28,795), the XLT ($30,910), and the Titanium ($32,995). As you can see, there isn’t an enormous price differential between trims. For an extra $2,000 or so, an upgrade to the mid-level XLT model is an excellent value, adding some nice infotainment and safety features that you won’t get on the base model.

There are a few special add-on packages to choose from, but our favorite is the Trailer Tow Package. For only $425, you can have your van set up for hauling up to 2,000 lbs.

Features We Love

The great thing about the Transit Connect is that it can be configured and equipped to meet the buyer’s exact specifications. The passenger version can be arranged with either two or three rows of seats. The cargo van, meanwhile, can hold up to 127 cubic feet of materials (this is reduced slightly to 105 cubes in the passenger model when the second and third rows are folded down). There are also several options for how the doors and rear liftgate can be configured.

As options on the 2021 model, you can add dual-zone automatic climate control, wireless charging, and a touchscreen that pairs with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. While the sound system in the base model is fine, some buyers choose to upgrade to a more premium unit with additional speakers.

Fuel Economy

The Transit Connect’s turbo 2.0-liter engine will deliver up to 24 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. The 2.5-liter option is rated at 20 mpg city and 27 highway. These are competitive numbers for vehicles in this segment.
