Ford is at it again providing a rough-and-ready truck to take on the challenges of in-town and out-of-town driving situations with the new 2020 Ford F-250.
Exterior (Trims)
Choose from several trims that include the XL, XLT, STX, King Ranch, Limited, Lariat, and Platinum. Each has been updated with distinctive front and rear ends, new headlamps and fascia, an impressive grille, and exciting colors and trim inserts. The exterior also has restyled taillights, a refreshed tailgate, and larger grilles on the models with dual rear wheels.
Ford is also offering two off-road packages: FX4 and Tremor. The FX4 off-road package features Ranchero shocks, skid plates, a limited slip rear end, enhanced suspension, 4×4 shifting ability fitted on the steering column, and more ground clearance.
The Tremor package includes equipment such as off-road shock absorbers, raised running boards, skid plates, 18-inch matte black wheels, and 35-inch off-road tires. External features include raised suspension, rock crawling mode, front limited differential, and rear electronic locking differential.
Interior
The F-250 cabin is comfortable and well-planned with easily accessible technology. Depending on the trim, the interior will be highlighted with leather upholstery, a simulated suede headliner, and aluminum and wood accents. For entertainment and connectivity, standard features include the FordPass Connect modem featuring 4G LTE wi-fi with connections for a maximum of 10 devices, a USB port, and wireless charging capability. There’s also a telematics suite designed for fleet operators to manage and track vehicle data points. The suite is available for the Lariat and other high-end trims.
Power and Performance
The F-250 is no stranger when it comes to power and for 2020, the bar is raised once again with the addition of the 7.3-liter high-output V-8 paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Two other engines are also available. These include the 6.2-liter V-8 supported by a 6-speed automatic transmission and the 6.7-liter turbodiesel, with an improved fuel injection system and turbocharger, which means more power and torque.
The towing and payload capacity have been a strong point for the F-250, and this continues with the 2020. The truck’s ratings for fifth-wheel, conventional, and gooseneck payload and towing capabilities will be at the highest level exceeding its previous ratings according to Ford.
To make hitching a trailer more efficient, the Pro Trailer Backup Assist package will be available. This package makes things easier by eliminating undue stress plus it can retain hitching requirements for up to 10 rigs.
Safety
Whether you’re towing a fifth wheel, trailer, or ATVs, safety is always foremost for Ford products, and the F-series is no exception. A few of the available safety features are the Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) that includes Cross-Traffic Alert with trailer coverage, pre-collision assist fitted with automatic emergency braking, the Trailer Reverse Guidance system, and four 360-degree cameras for viewing all sides of the truck.
