Ford is often considered the GOAT of the auto industry. But what exactly are these Ford GOAT modes now available on select vehicles, and how do they help this juggernaut make the case for being the greatest of all time?

The Ford Bronco SUV has gained a well-deserved reputation as an off-roading king. It’s become such an icon in this sector that numerous variants have spun off, including two-door, four-door, Heritage, Heritage Limited Edition, and the super high-performance Bronco Sport. Ford has taken this premium ride to the next level with its all-terrain management system.

While the moniker GOAT’s assumed different meanings in recent years, for the Ford system bearing its name, these letters make a simple but powerful statement: Goes Over Any Type of Terrain. And that’s exactly what you get with Broncos backed by G.O.A.T. With the following modes, you’ll enjoy an optimal and seamless steering, shifting, braking, throttle, and overall performance experience.

Normal

The default mode of the Bronco is your go-to for basic daily driving. It balances your power and your fuel economy equally to get you capably and reliably to work, to home, or on your daily errands around town.

Eco

If you’re worried about maximizing fuel economy and getting the most out of gas mileage, this efficiency-focused mode is the way to go. That EcoBoost engine’s prowess is put to the test as it works hand-in-hand with this mode’s transmission and shifting optimization magic.

Sport

Shifting gets hyped up in this mode that prioritizes performance and thrills over all else. Holding those gears longer and adjusting accelerator pedal responses helps you achieve lightning-fast acceleration.

Slippery

If you’re navigating a rainy, icy, or similar environment with low traction, this mode will tackle your problem pathway with confidence. It provides enhanced traction by adjusting shifting, lowering the volume on throttle response, and utilizing 4WD Auto.

Sand/Snow

This mode takes advantage of 4WD High, locking front and rear differentials, throttle response adjustments, a front trail camera, and more to traverse significant snow, gravel, unpacked sand, and other softer surfaces.

Available Additional Modes

If you have invested in certain Broncos like the Badlands and the First Edition, you’ll have access to exclusive modes such as Mud/Ruts, Rock/Crawl, and Baja. You’ll find the former most invaluable if you get stuck in a mud pit or another difficult-to-leave environment. It takes advantage of default 4WD High and rear differential locking engagement.

Rock/Crawl also engages rear differential and 4WD locks, as well as low-range torque and other transmission or throttle adjustments, to climb rocky or steep incline terrains. Baja, on the other hand, is made for looser terrain. With its improved suspension and more vigorous torque and throttle, Baja is high-performance for off-roaders.
