Enjoy your summer with some fun activities near Norwood like visiting the Tuesday farmer’s market.

You can find so many ways to have fun when the weather warms up in the greater Boston area. Plan an unforgettable season with this list of our favorite summer activities in Norwood, MA.

1. Shopping at the Norwood Farmers Market

You can buy fresh produce, artisan crafts, and other local goods at the weekly Norwood Farmers Market, held every Tuesday from 2 to 6 p.m. during the summer. Vendors include Jordan Brothers Seafood, Hearth Artisan Bread, Freitas Farms, Mira’s Coastal Mosiacs and Jewelry, and many more. The market takes place at Norwood Town Common at 517-523 Washington Street. Free parking is available for farm market visitors.

2. Celebrating Independence Day This Summer

Join your friends and neighbors at this community celebration for Independence Day for Norwood on Tuesday, July 4. It all starts with a children’s parade at 1 p.m., followed by a historic reading of What to the Slave is the Fourth of July by Frederick Douglass at 2 p.m. Next, you can enjoy live music, take part in a 5K race, and finally watch the parade head down Washington Street starting at 5:30 p.m. Parking is available at Coakley Middle School, 1315 Washington Avenue.

3. Hiking and Swimming at Endean Park

You can get some fresh air and enjoy green space at Endean Park, a preserved nature area that also includes Hawes Pool. You can explore more than 37 acres of hiking trails, play baseball or tennis, or spend time with your kids at the playground. Endean Park is adjacent to Coakley Middle School at 1315 Washington Avenue.

4. Touring the Historic Day House

The Day House is only open during the summer months (April through July), so it’s an interesting destination if the weather isn’t so great and you need an indoor activity. Once owned by a prominent local tanning family in the 1800s, the home is now on the National Register of Historic Places as an example of classic Tudor architecture. Day House is located at 93 Day Street, with tour hours currently by appointment only.

5. Strolling Through Francis William Bird Park

This 86-acre park was designed in the style of renowned landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted, with landscaped gardens, water features, and more than 3 miles of paved pathways. In addition to walking through the beautiful grounds, you can also visit the toddler playground with your little one, play a game of pickup basketball, or enjoy a tennis match. Francis William Bird Park is just a few minutes away from Norwood at 135 Polley Lane in East Walpole.

The Bronco Sport has a rugged style you’ll love and the modern features you need to keep up with your busy summer schedule. Visit the team at Jack Madden Ford today for your test drive.
