In addition to the wooden stocks, whipping post, and pillory that were there, pirates and witches were hanged from the Great Elm, which was a tree that stood in the middle of the park until 1876.

The New England Aquarium aims to protect the oceans from harmful materials that lead to the extinction of many species.
