Norwood Historical Society
To gain a sense of the town’s history and character, there’s no better place to start than the Norwood Historical Society, which was founded in 1907. You gain a sense of the past as soon as you approach the gorgeous old-style building with its old wooden beams and white-wall architecture. The museum inside is filled with memorabilia, artifacts, and exhibits, with a guide or two to talk you through it all.
Their exhibits include details, pictures, and tools of the various industries that have thrived in the city over the years. These include printers, ink manufacturers, tanneries, bookmakers, and book cloth makers. If you’re lucky, you’ll be able to attend one of their regular events, which include discussions, book groups, and historical presentations.
Winsmith Mill Market
You’ll find both a landmark and a shopping hub of the town wrapped into one in Winsmith Mill Market. It’s a sprawling market for small businesses and local artists to display their wares. Five vintage stores filled with over 150 smaller vendors are housed throughout a complex of 14 buildings over 27 acres that were once an industrial mill, founded 167 years ago.

Historic Prowse Farm
This nearby farm houses a museum and education center to preserve the area’s rather entertaining history. You can gain a real sense of past events inside, in rooms such as the Doty Tavern Room, which has the original tavern sign. This famous tavern was where the Suffolk Resolves were signed: the documents that served as a basis for the Declaration of Independence.
